Meet Carol! We welcomed this beautiful lady to our sanctuary in late January. Carol was rescued from animal control and faced an uncertain future until we stepped in and took her. Carol appears to be somewhere between 3-6 years old. Her body indicates she’s had several litters of puppies, but we don’t know much about her history. Carol is very friendly, cheerful and loving with people of all ages. She has done well with the other dogs she has met. For now, we are going to say she needs a cat-free home. From what we’ve seen so far, she doesn’t appear to have a high prey drive, but she does get angry and reactive when slapped or challenged by cats, which is totally understandable. Carol loves hiking, going for car rides and going into stores and socializing with people at Tractor Supply and Home Depot, just to name a couple of her favorite places. She even enjoys visiting with the veterinarian! She’d be a great dog to take to work. Carol occasionally plays ball, but her favorite toys are food puzzles and Kongs. Carol would do best in a home where she doesn’t have to be alone for too long during the day and where she can be a travel companion for someone. She also needs long walks as she is athletic and loves nature. (She also loves to roll in “good stuff.”) She is up-to-date on vaccinations and is spayed. She has a heart murmur, but is in great overall health. Interested in meeting her? Please reach out to us. Adopters must live in an approximate 100-mile radius of Cuba, NY. We require personal and veterinary references as well as a home visit.
